About you:
Reporting to the Cloud Engineering Operating Systems Operations Manager, you will play a key role in supporting, maintaining and improving the infrastructure services we deliver to our internal and external customers around the globe as part of our 24X7 Global Operations Centre based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Operating Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring our services remains available, secure, cost effective whilst performing to design. This role is required to administer, support, maintain our global hosting platform working autonomously and collaboratively with our local and global team members.
You will need to apply your knowledge of operating systems, Citrix, Backup, Patching, Networking and virtualisation technologies to ensure best practice configuration, performance and security is maintained. You will need to be able to work under pressure during customer affecting incidents to quickly restore service or determine effective work arounds.
This is an ideal role for someone who has a solid foundation in Information Technology, a thirst for knowledge, a curious mind and a desire to do more with their skills. This role also carries a strong need for service and SLA orientated thinking with a customer first mentality, and cultural sensitivity
Day-to-day, you will:
Manage/Responsible for the Server estate ensuring Service is Optimal
RDS/Citrix Installation/Support
SSL Certificate Management
Restoring VM’s/Databases as required
Working with application support teams to troubleshoot/resolve issues
Ensure Monitoring is in place and functioning
Perform Upgrades where applicable
Work on assigned Service Requests and Incidents within the documented SLA’s
Work within an ITIL framework to reduce customer impacting Incidents
Review workload to drive efficiency, move processes and technology towards automation and self-service
Your skills and experiences might also include:
Experience with Windows Server and Linux Operating Systems.
Restoring VM’s/databases from backups as required using Veeam, Cohesity or other backup systems.
Experience administering Microsoft Active Directory and Services (IIS, Certificates, RDS).
Hands-on experience managing VMs across varied virtualization environment and networking.
Capability to produce/amend PowerShell scripts.
Citrix and Virtualisation (including technologies such as NetScaler, Remote Desktop solutions, VMWare or Microsoft hypervisors).
Provide SSL certificate management.
Experience patching server environments.
Basic database systems operations a plus.
Hands on experience with Azure, AWS and GCP highly regarded.
Ability to coach other members of staff and impart knowledge in an effective manner
Ability to work well under pressure and within given timescales.
Good written and oral communication skills Proven track record in ability to work to agreed targets and SLAs.
NOTE: This is a 15-day month shift rotation role. You will be required to work on a rotation shift from the office 8am/8pm and 8pm/8am on a rotating basis with the flexibility to work from home as needed.
