Our Learning Pathway
We will steer you on a learning path from Day 1!
Using a culmination of learning paths including face to face workshops,
online courses, and practical training in challenging and exciting group
projects, you will gain the necessary skills to develop into an all-rounded
Junior Data Engineer.
In the first two months, you will partake in hands-on technical workshops
covering our ways of working and our different technology stacks such as
Databricks (SQL, PySpark), Fivetran, Azure Data Factory with a focus on
Security, and Quality.
In months 3-4, you will work on an internal project, putting what you
have learnt into practise.
The final 2 months will be an exciting challenge
of working within a data engineering team to understand the fast-paced
nature of working on live products.
You’ll receive continuous support and guidance, learning from industry
experts who will share their experiences, expertise and expose you to
every aspect of the software development lifecycle. You’ll be given
development opportunities, including networking events where you will
meet senior engineers, managers and Directors.
We’re looking for a Graduate Data Engineer to join us on Tuesday 27
th August!
We want someone with a:
• A passion for data and technology (with foundational knowledge of
SQL and/or Pandas)
• A proactive, quick learner who can easily pick up new technical
concepts.
• A working style centred around collaboration, teamwork, and
communication.
• A creative and innovative problem solver
• Commercially aware, driven to continuous learning/improvement
• A high standard of written and spoken English
As a Junior Data Engineer you will:
• Develop data solutions to meet agreed acceptance criteria and
stories using a range of technologies.
• Understand and review requirements, understand the business logic
that applies in the code, be involved in refinement to identify and
prevent potential defects, estimate work items.
• Debug code, analyse, identify and fix root causes of defects in areas
of the pipeline.
• Collaborate with QA team members, demonstrate increasing
understanding of quality best practice.
• Work with project specific branching strategy, committing, merging
and dealing with conflicts, deploy to environments using predefined
build and deployment pipelines and use project specific
development tools.
• Continuously learn both development tools and technologies used in
the project as well as other development tools and technologies
• Clearly report progress both verbally and in writing, keeping
tracking systems up to date
• Liaise with and sometimes assist other departments and functions
such as support teams in a professional manner with a focus on
delivering the best customer experience.
