About you:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Ruby on Rails Developer to join our team on a full-time basis.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working primarily with Ruby/Ruby on Rails, with some involvement in JavaScript technologies such as React and Node.js. You’ll be part of a global team, contributing to a variety of exciting projects. You will work closely with a variety of stakeholders to optimise delivery of the best solutions for our customer needs.
We offer opportunities to learn new skills and further develop your existing skill set. Including, if desired, a chance to work with other technologies and programming languages such as Typescript, Go, microservices, and serverless applications.
Day-to-day, you will:
- Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable, maintainable software solutions by:
> Writing clean, efficient, and well-tested code
> Debugging, troubleshooting & continuously improving existing web applications
> Identifying and resolving performance issues and bugs
> Participating in code reviews and sprint ceremonies
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other junior members, supporting their growth and ensuring high code quality.
- Collaborate within an Agile (Scrum) team, contributing to team outcomes through strong individual performance
- Partner with the Principal Developer and Engineering Manager to explore technical solutions and help define and prioritize items on the product’s technical roadmap
- Take part in requirement analysis and discussions, taking ownership of the scope, risk, and complexity of tasks - from planning to delivery
- Shape internal team processes and initiatives, working closely with teammates to improve workflows and support the team's mission.
Skills, knowledge, experience & qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional web development experience with a strong track record in building scalable applications.
- Expert-level proficiency in Ruby on Rails
- At least basic experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React.js and some exposure to Node.js
- Comfortable working both on front-end and backend.
- Experience in writing automated tests for web applications.
- Experience with SaaS application development at scale
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS
- Strong understanding of secure, reliable, and high-performance application development
- Comfortable working with and improving existing codebases
- Able to work across multiple projects and switch context when needed
- Experience with Elasticsearch is a plus
- Fluent in English, with clear communication skills
- A strong sense of ownership and pride in delivering high-quality software that makes a real impact for customers
- A collaborative mindset and a passion for working as part of a team
- A desire to guide and support other engineers in creating user experiences that delight and exceed expectations
