About you: Senior Engineering Managers at Access perform the vital role of helping engineering teams achieve high performance through continuous improvement, technological advancement and inspirational leadership. You will have strong hands on experience as a developer in previous roles and won’t be afraid to roll up your sleeves should the opportunity arise. You will have a strong grasp of modern software development in an agile environment and provide teams the needed leadership and management support to achieve high performance. You will understand cloud architecture, managed service delivery and best practice methodologies. You will be current in modern technologies and have the ability to adapt to unfamiliar domains and tech stacks. Day-to-day, you will: • Lead & drive the software engineering teams to achieve high performance. • Drive the engineering team(s) best practice, secure, available, performant solutions. • Providing clear, regular credible updates to leadership. • Prioritise collaboration with key members of the wider organisation to build valuable outcomes across products for our customers. • Lead, motivate, develop and manage the performance of the team to ensure that they have the skills and support to achieve their potential and meet business needs. • Develop a culture of end-to-end ownership and a focus on autonomy within the teams. • Work with others to understand & implement best practice, agile methodologies, knowledge sharing and technical challenges across the wider portfolio of products. • Work closely with other functions to ensure customer outcomes are understood and achieved. • Use programming experience to provide technical guidance, clear thinking and commercially-pragmatic decision-making; leading & mentoring to team to make better decisions. • Drive a DevOps culture and cloud native delivery with strong CICD pipelines, pervasive automation, fast flow. • Ensure teams build measurements into everything they do to create fast feedback loops. • People leadership responsibilities for the squad, including Employee Success Plan objectives and check-ins, performance management, personal development, Path to Great and any absence requests and management. Your Skills and Experiences likely include: • At least 15 years’ experience, with at least 3 in a similar role • Experienced former developer ideally to senior level before switching to management (ability to adapt to frameworks or technologies is important) • Experience of managing all aspects of team and product performance including line management, SaaS, design and architecture, process, continuous improvement, and secure software development • Experience managing remote teams • Experience creating and driving high performing teams • Customer focussed
