Job description
You are an experienced business analyst ideally with a payroll background, who is passionate about producing robust user-friendly software. You will be a key part of our dynamic product development team with good strong knowledge of agile development and the ability to communicate complex ideas to the team ensuring smooth development of the stakeholder’s requirements.
Job Role:
You will work on a market leading temporary recruitment payroll solution, with the Product Manager gathering the requirements of both internal and external stakeholders. Transforming these requirements into detailed “stories” that can be communicated to the development team from both a development and Q.A. perspective.
Day-to-day, you will:
- Liaise with key stakeholders to gather requirements
- Produce detailed broken-down specification stories with accompanying background documentation, and wireframe mock-ups
- Work as part of an agile development team attending Stand-up, Show case, and retrospective meetings
- Organise Story requirement, refinement, and pointing sessions
- Contribute to product launch and go to market material
- Assess bugs/support issues for prioritisation
- Work with Product Manager to shape and define the product’s road map
Skills and Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong background in Payroll, especially within the temporary recruitment market
- Agile (Scrum, Kanban) expertise in a digital/software product development environment
- Solid ability to identify and refine User Stories that follow INVEST principles
- Experience with Jira, Confluence and diagramming tools such as Visio, Gliffy, etc
- Always have the user in mind when specifying how a function will work
- Think beyond the stakeholder’s requirements
- Be analytical to think through multiple solutions for a given problem and choose the most appropriate
- To be strong enough to ask for more information if you can’t understand a stakeholder’s needs
- Communicate back to the stakeholder to ensure that your understanding of their needs matches theirs
- Know when to apply the 80/20 rule
- Are able to keep a team focused and on track in refinement sessions
- A reasonable level of technical knowledge so you can understand context and challenges of software solutions (components, data flows, integration, etc)
- Is able to identify root causes, and get beyond treating symptoms
- Can develop requirements that deliver to our short-term needs while still aligning to the longer-term strategic vision
