About you:
Senior Engineering Leaders at Access perform the vital role of helping engineering teams achieve high performance through continuous improvement, technological advancement and inspirational leadership. You will have strong hands on experience as a developer in previous roles and won’t be afraid to roll up your sleeves should the opportunity arise. You will have a strong grasp of modern software development in an agile environment and provide teams the needed leadership and management support to achieve high performance. You will understand cloud architecture, managed service delivery and best practice methodologies. You will be current in modern technologies and have the ability to adapt to unfamiliar domains and tech stacks. You will have a continuous improvement mindset and understand how DORA can help teams attain higher performance through process optimisation and continuous delivery. This role will be to support the Reservations squad comprising multiple teams across several products, based across UK and Romania so occasional travel will be required. There is a wide tech stack including AWS, Azure, PHP, Laravel, MVC.NET, C#.NET, React, MongoDB and, SQL Server. The products operates at scale and need to be highly available for our customers. Preserving the customer experience is critical to all of Access. Your role will be crucial in helping the team continue to deliver a highly scalable and highly available operation. We are also a security first organisation putting security to the top of the priority list. Understanding security principles, secure software development practices and being able to assess risks is key for success in this domain.
Day-to-day, you will:
· Lead & drive the software engineering teams to achieve high performance.
· Drive the engineering teams in best practice to build secure, available, performant solutions.
· Keep leadership informed on key initiatives and areas of challenge.
· Prioritise collaboration with key members of the wider organisation to build valuable outcomes across products for our customers.
· Lead, develop and manage the performance of the team to ensure that they have the skills and support to achieve their potential and meet business needs. Motivate the team to strive for high performance.
· Develop a culture of end-to-end ownership and a focus on autonomy within the teams.
· Implement best practice working practices with an agile mindset. Encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration across the wider portfolio of products.
· Work closely with other functions to ensure customer outcomes are understood and achieved.
· Use programming experience to provide technical guidance, clear thinking and commercially-pragmatic decision-making; lead & mentor teams to make better decisions.
· Drive a DevOps culture with a focus on cloud native delivery and strong CICD pipelines; motivate teams toward pervasive use of automation and achieve fast flow.
· Ensure teams build measurements into everything they do creating fast feedback loops.
· Own people leadership across the team, including objective setting, performance management and drive a growth agenda.
