At Access we love software and how technology never stays the same. It's this obsession that drives us to work closely across sectors to understand the business needs of our customers - from professional services to manufacturing to not for profits and more.

We're passionate about helping our customers stay one step ahead of the challenges facing their industry and business. That's why over 1 million users and over 10,000 organisations rely on Access software to help their organisation thrive.

Role-specific:

We now have a very exciting opportunity in our ERP Division.  Over the last 2 years we have had a successful launch of cloud migration project. Now, we need to ensure we give our customers a best-in-class experience and evolution to a true SAAS offering.

The role will be responsible for building and maintaining the tools for deployment, monitoring and operations for our ERP customers.

About you:

  • System monitoring tools such as New Relic, App Dynamics or Red Gate
  • CI/CD tooling such as Azure Devops
  • Grafana/Kibana or another log monitoring tool.
  • Infrastructure as code/Terraform.

It would be advantageous to have following:

  • Do not rest on laurels – you look to continuously improve the reliability of the systems you support. You love to standardise and take people out of the process.
  • You believe in continuous delivery and the benefits it brings to stability.
  • You are obsessive about reducing manual toll and try to automate as much as possible using tooling available to us in the best possible way.
  • You are willing to proactively step in and do the right thing.

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Monitor SQL server capacity, provision new servers well in advance. Ensure servers are load balanced.
  • Implement tooling such as Redgate, App Dynamics/New relic or Grafana to monitor overall system performance and ensure early detection of issues.
  • Build monitoring that alert on symptoms rather than outages.
  • Design a process and pipeline to update all customers with minor changes in collaboration with product engineering and cloud engineering:
  • Using Pipelines for DB updates with support from development teams.
  • Investigate tooling and options for updating front-end on our MyDesk (by Citrix) platform in collaboration with cloud engineering.
  • Investigate buy versus build options for monitoring and automation.
  • Continuously looking for ways to improve the performance of the system and reduce manual toll for consultants and support.  Automate repetitive tasks.
  • Security focus and ensure we are constantly improving our security posture. Use ArmourCode to track our security score and look to continuously improve.
  • Coordinate move to our new data center with our cloud engineering team.
  • Key metrics you will be responsible for: Uptime (target 99.8%), Time to Restore Service and Latency/System Response times.
  • Proactively scale the infrastructure with our business.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Consultants and Support to improve how we work and stream-line implementations.
  • You will co-ordinate incidents and outages and complete blameless post-mortems on all incidents ensuring any preventative measures are put in place.
  • The role will require you to be on call in case of outage or major incident outside of core working hours.

What does Access offer you?
