The Role - Chief Information Officer 

The Access Group is a leading UK software provider, delivering a broad suite of business management applications and services to multiple industry sectors. Following the recent re-finance of the business, Access plans to triple its size over the next few years’ through the delivery of a comprehensive Value Creation Plan (VCP), in addition to organic growth. 

With over 45,000 clients, the Group recognizes the opportunity it has in respect of data, from utilising it to identify and target new prospects, to cross selling, improving customer retention and creating new revenue streams. Part of the VCP therefore is to transform the Group into a fully data enabled business in order to deliver market-leading performance and achieve our growth ambitions. 

Central to this vision is to scale up our internal systems and ensure they can service the demands of the business, and build out a broader data analytics team. Underpinning this is the need to build an enterprise-grade data warehouse & reporting capability, establish a data-driven approach throughout the Group, and drive direct commercial impact through the application of Machine Learning. 

Key Responsibilities:
• Set objectives and strategies for the Business Systems function that underpin and enable the company goals and objectives. 
• Shape and lead the execution of the Access Group’s data strategy, evangelizing a data-driven work environment and demonstrating the power and potential of data through real results.
• Select and implement suitable technology, such as Internal Business Systems (CRM, ERP etc) to streamline all internal operations and help optimize their strategic benefits.
• Plan the implementation of new systems and provide guidance to the IT teams and other stakeholders within the organisation to ensure maximum return on investment. 
• Monitor changes or advancements in technology and data analytics to discover ways the company can gain competitive advantage from their adoption. 
• Analyse the costs, value and risks of information systems to ensure that any investment in systems generates positive returns and that risks are well defined, visible and managed.
• Negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers for installing and maintaining new business systems and training employees on its use.
• Communicates with other executive members to make sure all parts of the company use the business systems in the best ways possible.
• Lead major programs of work covering digitisation, cloudification, customer experience, and efficiencies.
• Manage a growing team to scope and deliver strategic and tactical projects - ranging from BI dashboards, AI-driven commercial optimisation, and developing data-driven products for clients.
• Work with stakeholders across the organisation (senior execs through to functional & divisional teams), to understand priorities, business challenges and opportunities, and think creatively about innovative data-driven solutions for these.
• Drive change across the organisation and develop skills to transform the business to become more data-driven and optimised.
• Identify new data types and data sources (structured data as well as unstructured data) and innovative ways to collect them to drive increased value across the business.

• Manage development, running and operationalisation of business reporting.

Candidate Profile:
Qualifications and Experience: 
• Proven experience as a CIO or similar managerial role 
• Background in architecting/implementing Business Information Systems 
• Solid understanding of data analysis, budgeting and business operations 
• Experience of leading a data & analytics function ideally at a large company 
• Experience in consolidating disparate BI functions, building teams and developing capability 
• Experience working with and knowledge of modern data architectures, infrastructure and tools (especially Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Tableau) 

• Direct experience with development (e.g., SQL, Python, Tableau etc.), both in a management and execution capacity
