What you can expect from the role:
The Software Developer position is a role which will be responsible for the successful execution of Elemental’s software strategy. Working alongside a team of developers and IT specialists, the
Software Developer will work closely with the Elemental’s Product and Development teams in order to deliver software and IT services that meet user needs. The Software Developer will be responsible for participation in the creation and delivery of software within projects and all aspects of the continuous improvement of the software, with the ambition to become a Senior Software Developer under the mentorship of our senior team members.
Key responsibilities:
Working closely with the Development Team Lead and a team of Engineers/Developers to deliver software that enhances Elemental’s platform. This role will involve;
Researching, designing, implementing and managing software
Identifying areas for modification, subsequently developing these modifications
Writing and implementing efficient code
Determining operational practicality
Deploying software tools, processes and metrics
Maintaining and upgrading existing systems
Participate in daily/weekly stand-up and estimation meetings
Provide estimates for development effort, track progress using JIRA
Contribute to application improvement & optimization
Essential Criteria:
Relevant 3rd level qualification
One years work experience in software development
Professional object-oriented programming experience (preferably Java)
Passion, Energy and Skill
Experience with Agile development and JIRA
Legally permitted to work in UK
Desirable Criteria:
Understanding of version control systems such as GIT
Self-motivated with clear structured high quality working standards
Highly analytical thinking team player with good communication skills
Passion for Digital Healthcare and the ‘Tech for Good’ movement.
