Access is seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst / Product Owner to join our dynamic Product Management team. You will play a highly strategic and vital role working across our Hospitality portfolio to deliver on our roadmap of Analytics, Data Insights and Intelligent Forecasting, a key element of our Access Workspace value proposition. 

 

You will work closely with our product managers to establish reporting and dashboard needs for both internal and customer facing business intelligence. It is thus essential that you have a deep understanding of Analytics reporting, data warehousing and BI.

Responsibilities:
• Assist in defining the product strategy for business intelligence and Analytics across the Hospitality product portfolio, aligned with the divisional and company Strategy and Vision.
• Work with the development and product teams to elicit and understand requirements for the Analytics product as applied to each of our core products as well as holistic, cross-product insights, dashboards and reporting. 
• Clearly identify and describe product backlog items in order to build a shared understanding of the problem and solution with the product development team, work with dev teams to describe and refine stories to facilitate their implementation. 
• Define acceptance and test criteria for the product, not limited, but including volume and performance, historical loads, and other common functional and non-functional analytics and reporting related test scenarios.
• Make decisions regarding the priority of product backlog items in order to deliver maximum outcome with minimum output, and best value for our customers.
• Ensure that logical and physical data models and data movements into the solution allow us to make the best use of the Analytics product whilst remaining efficient and scalable.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders within the Division to communicate the product roadmaps, content and launches as well as work with the central platform team to drive new product features and enhancements.
• Understand and follow technical trends in the industry. Able to assess emerging products and companies and make recommendations on which new technologies to invest in or leverage
• Follow competitors and conduct capability analysis regularly
• Provide internal support and training on how to use the Business Intelligence products 
• Answer incoming questions about the products and their capabilities
• Serve as a product evangelist and subject matter expert to the technical community
• Initiate and support engagement with clients through Special Interest Groups, User Groups and other events
• Pro-actively engage in agile development activities: scrums, planning and estimating sessions, workshops, and stakeholder development demonstrations where required.  
• Take active involvement in software design discussions, reviews, planning and strategy sessions - contributing to ongoing improvement of quality assurance standards and procedures.
• Maintain effective communication between customers, business and technical stakeholders in the project so and ensure risks and issues are managed effectively.
• Ensure that all changes to requirements are well-thought through, implications considered, discussed with all relevant stakeholders, sized appropriately, implemented and tested.
• Take part in customer forums and interviews to share product plans, promote discussion and garner feedback.
• Act as a divisional subject matter expert for the Analytics product and functionality within the Hospitality division, able to provide internal support, demos and training to the wider teams. 

 

Skills and Attributes

Essential
• Excellent communicator able to communicate at all levels and adopt a flexible & consultative approach.
• Ability to write stories and acceptance criteria and then test using the BI tools provided
• Demonstrate experience as a product owner, showing collaboration between stakeholders, and development teams to ensure effective and relevant Analytics delivery requirements are produced and implemented by the product development teams.  
• Experience of data manipulation, transformation and visualization, including an understanding of reporting and the shaping of data for reporting either as an expert user or as part of a BI solutions product team.
• Good UI/UX design practice, attention to detail culminating in an easy to use product.  

 

Ideal

• Have a sound understanding of  SQL databases and Microsoft technology - including how these are queried for the purposes of analytics reporting.
• Experience in using and development of other analytics tools on the market (eg. MicroStrategy, PowerBI, Looker).
• Experience of implementation of multi region and multi countries systems and projects 
• Understanding of multi tenancy use cases for data and reporting.
• Experience with large transactional data volumes, and the types of solutions that support these in Analytics.
• Flexible and pragmatic, able to respond to shifting priorities, demands and timelines by using effective analytical and problem solving skills
• Experience of Agile development.
• Experience with bug tracking systems, version control systems (Jira, Bitbucket)
• Strong communication, influencing, negotiation and collaboration skills
• Demonstrate sound judgement, able to make decisions independently whilst recognising when to escalate for more senior approval
• Proactive, goal orientated with a strong delivery/milestone focus
• Able to grasp technical concepts and new product functionality quickly
• Attention to detail and consistent application of standards
• Good organisational skills and a willingness to adapt to fast changes in work priorities when required
• Self-motivated with the ability to work on own and within a team
• Commercially aware with an understanding of drivers of commercial performance
